Berkeley College honored its family patriarch today at a dedication ceremony of its School of Business for Larry L. Luing, former President and Chairman of the Board Emeritus.
“Today we dedicate the Larry L. Luing School of Business,” said Dario A. Cortes, PhD, Berkeley College President. “We honor Larry Luing, the businessman and visionary, the imaginative thinker, the one who was able to create an educational institution that has the level of success, achievement and distinction that continues to this day.”
The remarks and ceremony featured personal letters and citations from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and others.
Building on the College’s tradition of exceptional, career-focused business education, the School of Business was established in July 2009. Centered on the Management, Fashion, Accounting and Finance, and Marketing departments, the School offers 29 Baccalaureate and Associate degree-level programs, with the two newest in Marketing Communications and Information Technology Management.
The School of Business student population comprises two-thirds or approximately 5,000 students of the total enrollment. Of these, 80 percent are pursuing Baccalaureate degrees. Among the nearly 900 international students, 90 percent are pursuing their courses of study in the School of Business.
A leader in business education for more than 80 years, Berkeley College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolls more than 8,700 students — including more than 800 international students — in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has four New York locations — Midtown Manhattan, Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, Brooklyn, and White Plains. And in New Jersey there are four locations — Woodland Park, Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark. Berkeley College Online also offers full degree programs. Programs are offered in more than 20 career fields. The website address is www.BerkeleyCollege.edu.
