BERKELEY COLLEGE COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
LENDS HELPING HANDS AROUND NEW YORK

Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Honors Students Volunteer more than 1,400 Hours

On Friday, June 5, 2015, 350 Berkeley College associates, alumni and Honors students spent the day in service to their communities at various nonprofit, service-based organizations in New York and New Jersey. During the 6th Annual Community Service Day, volunteers had 21 opportunities to serve in all five boroughs, as well as in Rockland and Westchester counties.

“Berkeley College is proud to contribute in meaningful ways to the communities where we live and work,” said Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College. “We expect our students to bring this social consciousness and spirit of service with them when they leave Berkeley and go on to make a difference.”

Volunteers shelved books, delivered meals, served in soup kitchens and planted flowers for organizations such as St. John’s Bread and Life in Brooklyn, the American Cancer Society in Queens, and the White Plains YMCA in Westchester County.

Community Service Day is an initiative of Berkeley Cares, which throughout the year assists charities in the critical areas of food, shelter, health and student success. Service organizations that would like to know more about Community Service Day can e-mail communityservice@berkeleycollege.edu
