Photo Caption: Ahead of Memorial Day, Berkeley College faculty, staff, students and alumni honored fallen servicemembers by placing American flags on graves at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, NJ, and George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. The sites were among the more than 50 locations selected by the College during its Community Service Week, which pledged 2,000 volunteer hours to nonprofits and community organizations in New Jersey and New York. Angel Batista, who works in the Admissions office at Berkeley College, is a U.S. Army veteran who volunteered at the Clifton site. He served in the infantry – three tours of duty in Iraq – between 2005 to 2011. “It’s important to recognize those who gave the greatest sacrifice,” Mr. Batista said. “Any little way we can honor them goes a long way.” Berkeley College serves more than 400 military and veteran students.
