Student veteran Ryan Davenport at Berkeley College

Photo Caption A: Berkeley College student veteran Ryan Davenport, 28, of Paterson recites the Soldier’s Creed at the beginning of his address to the crowd gathered in the Renaissance Hall Atrium at Berkeley College in Woodland Park, NJ, to celebrate Veterans Day today.  During his time in Iraq as a U.S. Army soldier, he drove a truck. Now he is beginning to live his dreams by earning a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Management with a minor in International Business. While this marks the start of a new life for Mr. Davenport, he knows he will always live by the Soldier’s Creed because that changed his life forever.

Mr. Davenport described his military experience as “the most accomplished thing I ever did,” as he told how it changed his life. “You’re a role model to your community,” he said. “You’re a hero to your family.” The Soldier’s Creed became the backbone of Mr. Davenport’s life as he adjusted to civilian life and continues on his life’s journey.
