BERKELEY COLLEGE CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF INNOVATIVE
ONLINE LEARNING AND TEACHING
Berkeley College recently held a ceremony and reception to kick off the 15th anniversary of its innovative online learning and teaching program.
The online program has flourished since Berkeley College first began offering online courses in 1998 and accredited online degrees in 2003. Since 2003, the number of students enrolled in online programs has increased from 49 to 1,086. Berkeley College Online offers 250 online courses each quarter.
“It has been a busy, exciting, creative and innovative 15 years,” said Sharon Goldstein, Campus Operating Officer, Berkeley College Online. “As technology changes, we can never anticipate what will be next. But the student remains our focus, and as we continue on, it will be with a watchful eye to student success.”
The yearlong celebration includes a student essay contest that will award a $1,500 scholarship and a “Voices of Inspiration” video series that highlights successful students and alumni. The anniversary reception also featured an Online Art Show that displayed virtual works submitted by faculty members and associates.
In April, Berkeley College will hold a Virtual Commencement to honor its graduating online students. The anniversary celebration will conclude with National Distance Learning Week in November.
