Ms. Garcia was the winner of an essay contest held to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the College’s online learning and teaching program. The topic of the essay contest was “Who in the World Has Provided Your Learning Inspiration?” Ms. Garcia wrote about her son, Alexander, who has a learning disability, as her inspiration. “Whenever I think it is getting too difficult to balance my schoolwork while raising two children and working full time, I think of Alexander,” she wrote. “He inspires me to never give up, work hard and always set high goals for myself, as he himself has done.” Ms. Garcia received an AAS from Berkeley College in 1985 and is currently pursuing a BS in Management through Berkeley College Online. She was named Berkeley College Alumna of the Year for New York in 2012, and serves as Vice President, Operations Division, at Goldman Sachs.
