The Berkeley College Department of Athletics recently announced the appointment of David Eddy as Head Coach of the Women’s Tennis program. This year will mark the first of competition for the Women’s Tennis team, which is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and will compete in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Mr. Eddy, a graduate of Western Kentucky University, brings with him more than 40 years of experience as a professional tennis player and coach. As a player, he has competed in most major tournaments throughout the world, including the French Open, U.S. Open and Wimbledon.
Andy DeStephano, Berkeley College Director of Athletics, said Mr. Eddy’s experience in the game of tennis, as well as his enthusiasm for coaching, makes him an ideal candidate for the position.
“To say David Eddy has experience in the game of tennis would be an understatement,” Mr. DeStephano said. “He has a terrific understanding of what it takes to become a gifted player and tremendous knowledge of tennis, and I feel that he will be a great fit here. We’re looking forward to having him guide our program.”
