BERKELEY COLLEGE APPOINTS KATHERINE SULLIVAN, PhD,
AS CHAIR, NURSING, SCHOOL OF HEALTH STUDIES

 

Berkeley College is pleased to announce the appointment of Katherine Sullivan, PhD, as Chair of the Nursing Department, School of Health Studies. In addition to teaching a variety of courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, Dr. Sullivan has written nursing courses such as Introduction to Transcultural Nursing and Evidence Based Research in Nursing Practice. She also has experience in many clinical environments at hospitals and medical centers, including pediatric and adult emergency services, pediatric and young adult same day surgery, adult acute care, and home therapy. As Chair of Nursing, Dr. Sullivan will be responsible for overseeing the Practical Nurse and Patient Care Technician Assistant programs.

“As the Berkeley College School of Health Studies continues to expand, our students will benefit and grow as they learn from Dr. Sullivan’s extensive experience and commitment to the ongoing evolution in nursing and healthcare,” said Sheila A. Dynan, DMH, Dean, Berkeley College School of Health Studies.

Dr. Sullivan received a BS in Nursing from Jersey City State College and an MS in Nursing, Parent/Child Nursing, Teaching Tract, from Rutgers University, Newark, where she also earned a Post-Masters Certificate in Nursing Education. She earned a Graduate Certificate in Transcultural Nursing and a PhD in Nursing Education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO.

Dr. Sullivan is a member of the National League for Nursing, the American Nurses Association, the Pennsylvania League for Nursing, and the Mu Theta At Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She also has served as Recording and Corresponding Secretary of the Northeast Chapter of Transcultural Nursing Society.
