BERKELEY COLLEGE APPOINTS BYRON HARGROVE AS
DIRECTOR OF HONORS PROGRAM

Berkeley College is pleased to announce the appointment of Byron K. Hargrove, PhD, as Director of the Honors Program. In this role, Mr. Hargrove will be responsible for directing the Honors Program as it grows to incorporate both incoming and continuing students. The Berkeley College Honors Program is an intensive program of study designed to give students the opportunity to perform at a high intellectual level.

“Dr. Hargrove is an engaging counseling psychologist and professor who brings more than 20 years of teaching, counseling, administrative and consulting experience to his new position,” said Marianne P. Vakalis, EdD, Berkeley College Associate Provost, Faculty Affairs.

Dr. Hargrove has been with Berkeley College for nine years and during that time has held several positions including psychology adjunct instructor, Associate Dean of Student Development and Campus Life, and his current position of full-time faculty member in the School of Liberal Arts.  He is a recipient of the 2011 Faculty of the Year Award for excellence in instruction at Berkeley College.

Dr. Hargrove holds an MA and PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park where he specialized in career psychology and short-term counseling techniques; and a BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

A leader in business education for more than 80 years, Berkeley College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolls more than 8,700 students — including over 800 international students — in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has four New York locations — Midtown Manhattan, Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, Brooklyn, and White Plains.
