Former Pro Coach and NCAA Champion to Coach Berkeley Bulldogs  
Berkeley College is pleased to announce that Dwight D. Wilbur, a former pro basketball coach and member of the Villanova Wildcats 1985 NCAA Men’s Division I championship basketball team, is the new head basketball coach for the Berkeley Bulldogs. The team’s home base is the Berkeley College Garret Mountain Campus located in West Paterson, NJ.
“Berkeley College is thrilled to have Dwight Wilbur join the Berkeley community,” said Berkeley College Athletic Director Brian Maher. In addition to his star-status basketball background, he brings a wealth of knowledge, understanding and experience in leadership to the position. Dwight Wilbur also knows how to connect with people, especially young people, and he understands the importance of community connections, which Berkeley College values.” 
Most recently Mr. Wilbur held positions as assistant boys varsity basketball coach for Montclair High School, NJ; associate head basketball coach for Apex Academy, Pennsauken, NJ; and director of operations and head coach at Hoboken Charter High School, NJ.
Mr. Wilbur began his coaching career in 1991 as head boys basketball coach for Saddle Brook High School, NJ, where he guided the team to their first division championship in 1988. Then as head basketball coach for Union Catholic High School, NJ, from 1994 to 1996, he guided the team to the Parochial B finals.
In 1997, Mr. Wilbur worked as an assistant coach for the New Jersey ShoreCats of the United States Basketball League (USBL), a professional men’s spring basketball league, under Head Coach Rick Barry, an NBA All-Star. From 1999 to 2002, he worked as an assistant coach under NBA All-Star Darryl Dawkins, who was head coach for the USBL Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs. In addition, from 1991 to 1994 during the months of April through November, he served as head basketball coach for the Australia women’s professional basketball team. He also played professional basketball for the Sydney Kings of the National Basketball League of Australia.
Mr. Wilbur has proven leadership skills both on and off the basketball court. In addition to playing and coaching basketball, he has served as a the Director of Sports Media for Software Reproduction Technologies, New York, NY; Urban Project Coordinator for Boost Mobile, New York, NY; and Sports Coordinator for Anaconda Sports, New York, NY. Mr. Wilbur holds a BA in Communications and Marketing from Villanova University. He lives in Paterson, NJ, with his two sons.
