APPROXIMATELY 1,400 BERKELEY COLLEGE STUDENTS
RECEIVE DIPLOMAS AT COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
Family and friends filled the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ, on Friday, April 30, to support graduates at the Commencement Ceremony of the Berkeley College Class of 2010.
Approximately 1,400 students from Berkeley College campuses in New Jersey and New York, and Berkeley College Online, received Baccalaureate and Associate degrees.
“These are, as we all know, uncertain economic times,” Berkeley College President Dario A. Cortes, PhD, told the graduates. “The world you are entering is at a crucial juncture, but we know that you are well equipped and we have great confidence in your ability to be successful citizens of the 21st century.”
The members of the graduating class are beginning their careers at 630 companies including Bank of America, Calvin Klein, JP Morgan, and Price Waterhouse Cooper, among others.
New Jersey Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver delivered the Commencement Address and was given an honorary Doctor of Law Degree.
“As I look around I see a graduating class that reflects our country’s hopes and desires. I see a graduating class with a fierce determination to overcome any and all obstacles,” said Speaker Oliver. “As leaders there is so much we can accomplish. We should take advantage of every moment to make a positive difference.”
Berkeley College student Jessica Bruederlein spoke on behalf of the graduating class.
“Berkeley College has given us the tools and education to conquer our dreams,” said Ms. Bruederlein. “Each of us has the ability to change this world, so today let’s go out and change it for the better.”
A leader in business education for 79 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of more than 8,000 students, including 665 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs.
