The Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) Honor Society, which honors high-achieving adult and nontraditional students, recently recognized Ernest A. Scott of Brooklyn, NY, as a 2018 scholarship recipient. Mr. Scott will graduate in 2018 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Berkeley College.

“I firmly believe that while it is important to have dreams and set goals, they are not realized by wishful thinking and prayers,” Mr. Scott said. “While those are important, it is necessary that we wake up, get up, and be deliberate in our pursuits of those dreams; work the dream – it is not impossible.”

Among the criteria, scholarship applicants are judged on scholarship, leadership and faculty recommendations. In addition to ASL, Mr. Scott is a member of the National Society for Leadership and Success (NSLS), through which he received the NSLS National Engaged Leadership Award in 2018. He also serves as an Orientation Leader, helping new students acclimate to college life.

Mr. Scott has worked extensively with community nonprofits, focusing on education and social services. He is also an entrepreneur. His business, Posh Styles and Designs, provides services related to event planning, design and décor.
