Spring Accomplishments Strengthen Our Mission

Spring awakens a sense of pride in the many accomplishments that strengthen our mission at Berkeley College to empower students to achieve lifelong success in dynamic careers. 

One example is our participation in the Brooklyn Education Innovation Network (BE.IN), which opened its third annual symposium on April 7. Highlights from the event include Darshan Desai, PhD, Professor of Management in the Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business® (pictured above right), who joined colleagues from BE.IN to discuss the topic of Inclusive Innovation. The symposium also included a tour of theBROOKLYNfashionincubator at Berkeley College in Brooklyn. 

On April 8, Berkeley College celebrated a partnership with Fresenius University of Germany that is redefining the future of international education. A number of dignitaries from Germany and New York City were in attendance to commemorate the occasion. 

Members of the Berkeley College National Championship Men’s Basketball team presented New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie with an autographed basketball following a Crain’s New York Business Breakfast Forum in March, and students from the Health Services Administration Club, led by faculty member LaToya Trowers-Bell, EdD, provided volunteer service to organizations such as Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan and Richmond University Hospital in Staten Island. 

As we continue to celebrate our 85th Anniversary year at Berkeley College, we are proud to share a special recognition from the American Conference on Diversity in this edition of Berkeley College Newsline. Elizabeth Williams-Riley, Conference President and CEO, who recognized members of the Luing family with the Legacy Award for Humanitarianism, said, “We’ve made progress, but we are still struggling to live together and value one another in all sectors. The Conference honorees have helped ease this struggle.” 

Commencement day, Friday, April 29, 2016, is fast approaching. It is the day of ultimate Berkeley pride. I look forward to sharing scenes from this day in the next issue of Berkeley College Newsline.
