In September 2017, Berkeley College was a finalist and the presenting sponsor of the fourth annual Great Oaks Awards, created by New Jersey Monthly to honor the Garden State’s most generous companies.

Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College, and Kate S. Tomlinson, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, New Jersey Monthly, announced the winners at a dinner on September 13, 2017, at the Park Chateau in East Brunswick, NJ.

“In the great state of New Jersey, corporations have had a tradition of supporting those who are in the greatest need in our state,” said Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College. “The organizations that step up and really make a difference – those are the kind of things that make New Jersey special.”

More than 300 business and community leaders were in attendance to celebrate the winners and to hear remarks from Michele Siekerka, President and CEO, New Jersey Business and Industry Association. “Great businesses make great communities,” she said.

Winners that were recognized in the small company category included Nisivoccia in Mount Arlington, NJ; OpDecision in Marlton, NJ; the S3 Agency in Boonton, NJ; and the Silverstrom Group in Livingston, NJ. Winners among the mid-sized companies included Columbia Bank in Fair Lawn, NJ; Riker Danzig in Morristown, NJ; and WithumSmith+Brown in Princeton, NJ. Winners in the large-company category were Bayer in Whippany, NJ; BD in Franklin Lakes, NJ; and Ernst & Young in Iselin, NJ.
