MORE THAN 350 BERKELEY COLLEGE ASSOCIATES AND ALUMNI
PARTICIPATE IN THIRD ANNUAL COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
More than 350 Berkeley College associates and alumni volunteered 1,500 hours of community service at 36 community agencies in New York and New Jersey as part of the third annual Berkeley College Community Service Day, held Friday, May 11.
In New York, volunteers had 20 opportunities to volunteer in Manhattan and the Bronx, as well as on Long Island and in Rockland and Westchester counties. In New Jersey, associates had 28 opportunities in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties.
Some activities included delivering meals to the homebound with Citymeals-on-Wheels in Manhattan, NY; building boats for children at Rocking the Boat in the Bronx, NY; painting at the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest New Jersey in Wayne, NJ; and clearing trails at Ramapo Reservation in Mahwah, NJ.
“Berkeley College has a long tradition of serving organizations in the local and global community,” said Dario A. Cortes, PhD, Berkeley College President. “Community Service Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to the communities where we work and live.”
