During the Pathways to Success Opportunity Summit at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, on February 27, 2018, Berkeley College hosted “LinkedIn: Building Your Digital Resume.”

Here are some takeaways from the workshop from Amy Soricelli, Berkeley College Vice President, Career Services, a highly ranked professional in the LinkedIn Social Selling Index.

1. Get Creative! Who are you and who is your audience?

2. Put Your Best Face Forward. Use a professional photo – no selfies allowed. Don’t use the default avatar. “That’s like going to a career fair with a bag over your head,” Ms. Soricelli said.

3. Get to the Point. “Employers look at your resume for seven seconds. If you don’t have something to engage them, they’re moving on.”

4. Harness the Power of Three. Are you an expert in customer service? Project management? Financial services? Plug your expertise in three key areas.

5. Engage, and engage often.  Join groups that are relevant to your personal mission, and post or share something every day. “You have to be an active member, or it’s as though you’re not even there,” Ms. Soricelli said.
