In her role as Managing Director of Impacto Latino, Gail Smith brings thorough knowledge of successfully managing and growing a media company in a turbulent media environment.
Ms. Smith started her career in financial management at The Coca-Cola Company and held several executive marketing positions supporting international operations. She also held various executive positions at General Motors (GM), including Regional Marketing Director Latin America, Africa and Middle East (LAAM); Management of Saturn – Western Region; Regional Marketing Director, Media Exposure and Product Placement, and Director, Customer Services. Additionally, Ms. Smith held an overseas assignment with GM as Director of LAAM Planning and Strategic Marketing based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
She is certified by the Global Reporting Initiative based in the Netherlands, the leading international organization in sustainability reporting.
Ms. Smith serves on the advisory boards of the Harvard Journal of Hispanic Policy, the Brooklyn Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the U.S. Senate Task Force on Latino Affairs, and as a board member for Accion East and Diverse Visions Group.
She was awarded a Fellowship by Harvard University to further postgraduate studies in Economics at their Salzburg, Austria program, and holds a Master’s of Accountancy from Houston Baptist University and a BS in Marketing from California State University, Northridge.
