Berkeley College Welcomes Stavros Zomopoulos as New York Men's Soccer Coach

BERKELEY COLLEGE WELCOMES STAVROS ZOMOPOULOS
AS NEW YORK MEN’S SOCCER COACH
 
Berkeley College is proud to announce that Stavros Zomopoulos has been named head coach for the Men’s Soccer team in New York.
 
“Mr. Zomopoulos not only is an expert in his sport, but also serves as a role model for our student-athletes,” said Berkeley College Athletic Director Brian D. Maher. “His extensive playing, coaching and professional experience will be invaluable to Berkeley College athletes both on and off the field.”
 
Prior to coming to Berkeley College, Mr. Zomopoulos spent three years as head coach for the Men’s Soccer team at John Jay College. In 2006, he led the team to the CUNY Athletic Conference Final. Mr. Zomopoulos also served as assistant coach for the Borough of Manhattan Community College Men’s Soccer team, where he helped establish the Women’s Soccer program.
 
Mr. Zomopoulos is a graduate of Columbia University, where he played Division I soccer and won three Ivy League championships as well as reached the 1983 NCAA Division I Finals.
 
Following his collegiate career, Mr. Zomopoulos entered the American Express Corporate Management program where he worked for American Express both in Manhattan and Australia.
 
Mr. Zomopoulos is head coach for both the New York Kosmos/Greek American Youth U12 team and the Barnstonworth Rover F.C., one of the premier amateur teams in New York.
