BERKELEY COLLEGE TO HONOR MILITARY AT
SALUTE TO VETERANS EVENT

WHAT:
The Office of Military and Veterans Affairs at Berkeley College will honor veterans at its 4th annual Salute to Veterans event, celebrating past and present projects.  The event will feature: a presentation by veterans who participate in the Veterans History Project in conjunction with the Library of Congress; a photo collection of  participants in the Veterans Reflection Project; awarding of honor cords to student-veterans who will graduate this year; launch of the Goldstar Reflection Project which will highlight and honor families of those lost in combat; and a faculty/staff appreciation award given by student-veterans.

WHO:
The keynote speakers will be:

 

Lieutenant General Guy Swan

Retired from the United States Army, Lt. General Swan was raised in Wayne, NJ.  He is Vice President of the Association of the United States Army and former Commander of the United States Army North.  He was Chief of Staff of the Multinational Force in Iraq in 2008-2009.  He holds an MA in National Security Studies from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, and a MA in Military Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies, Leavenworth, KS.  His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Bronze Star.    

 

Staff Sergeant (SSG) Earl Granville

Raised in PA, SSG Granville is a United States Army veteran of the Afghanistan War, having served three tours of duty.  Wounded in combat, he is an adaptive athlete who works to bring awareness to the public about the mental health struggles in today’s military.  He is currently studying at the University of Scranton, PA.

ABOUT THE OFFICE OF MILITARY AND VETERANS AFFAIRS:
The Office supports the G.I. Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program, and collaborates on national ventures with the National Guard, the Army and the Air Force, the GoArmyEd distance learning program, and the Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership. The College was honored in 2015 as a military-friendly school by Military Advanced Education, Military Times, and G.I. Jobs magazines.  This year U.S. News & World Report ranked Berkeley College #83 for Best Online Bachelors Programs for Veterans.   

More than 500 military students and veterans are enrolled at Berkeley College in New York and New Jersey, and through Berkeley College Online®. Veterans Resource Centers, available at numerous campuses and online, offer environments to study, socialize and obtain information about a wide range of veterans’ benefits and issues.
