Photo Caption (L to R): Berkeley College students Miriam Gregory and Nichy Williams, both of Brooklyn, NY, help build benches during New York City’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. Berkeley College students and staff participated in the event through Berkeley Cares, an initiative to support charities that serve the critical areas of food, shelter, health, and student success. The effort was organized by City Year, an organization seeking to build democracy through citizen service, civic leadership and social entrepreneurship. The benches built by the Berkeley Cares team and other City Year volunteers will be used at P.S. 96 in East Harlem, NY.
