The Berkeley College New York Men’s Soccer team was ranked fourth among the top 20 schools in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s first published Coaches Poll this season. That ranking is the highest the team has achieved during the regular season in a Coaches Poll, and equals its highest ranking of all-time, as the team was also ranked fourth in the 2013 postseason.

“It is very gratifying to see us garnering recognition based on the success that we’ve had thus far this season,” said Stavros Zomopoulos, Head Coach of the Berkeley College Men’s Soccer team. “In addition to being ranked fourth overall, we are also the highest-ranked team of any of the non-scholarship colleges.”

Following a season-opening overtime defeat, the Knights have won eight of their nine contests, outscoring their opponents 35-4 over the eight wins. Berkeley College is 4-0 in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) competition, and has seven regular-season contests remaining on its schedule. On the regional level, Knights forward Victor Marotta of Miami and midfielder Aboubacar Sogoba of the Bronx were both tabbed as HVIAC Rookies of the Week in September. Two student-athletes – Mr. Marotta, and Pamir Aysan of New York – were named to the Conference’s Honor Roll list.

In 2013 the Berkeley College Men's Soccer team received its first post-season United States Collegiate Athletic Association national bid and were national semi-finalists.
