BERKELEY COLLEGE EXTENDS BROOKLYN STREETCAR

ARTISTS' GROUP EXHIBIT THROUGH JULY

Berkeley College has extended its exhibit of the artwork of the Brooklyn Streetcar Artists’ Group (BSAG) through July 31.  The display at the Brooklyn Gallery, 255 Duffield Street, Brooklyn, NY, can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, and on Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Robert Keiber, Curator, Berkeley College Brooklyn and Midtown Manhattan galleries, said he believes the group’s art is captivating, fascinating and among the best in this area.

Founded in 2009, BSAG found a home in Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, maintaining a gallery year-round with three to four rotating shows annually.  BSAG also works with local schools, showing students’ work between regular exhibitions.  It has grown to become one of the premier organizations in Brooklyn to exhibit the work of current artists.  The BSAG artists are much sought after, as is evident by the demand for their paintings by galleries, business organizations, corporations and private collectors.

Featured artists are:

Herb Alwais - He paints beautiful landscapes inspired by scenes and settings witnessed during travels in North America and Europe.  He loves the challenge of trying to capture and bring forth the feeling of calm and serenity that nature and the outdoors can elicit.

Beryl Brenner – The artist works with variety of materials and techniques. She has been granted eight one-woman shows throughout the country, including National Park Service, New York, NY; Bok Tower Gardens, Lake Wales, FL; and Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, Brooklyn, NY.

Susan Greaves – She graduated from Germain School of Photography in New York,  working as a corporate photographer for MetLife for 11 years while doing freelance work as well. Always having a camera within reach, she became involved with mixed-media and began working in that genre with an emphasis on collage and assemblage.

Ellen Hoyt – Ms. Hoyt is a much sought after artist.  She is an art instructor, frequently  described as "the person to study with if you want to learn the techniques of the masters.”

Holly Koffler – She’s been interested in photography since her teenage years, and has done black and white photography and printing as well as color printing.  She loves digital work and has about 4,000 photos on Flickr.

Jeremy Mezarina - Drawing and experimenting with colors since childhood, his education has been ongoing with studio courses and working hands-on with experienced artists.

Clarence Moore – A Canarsie artist who joined BSAG in 2011, Mr. Moore is happy to exhibit his work at locations like the Berkeley College Brooklyn Gallery.  He feels it’s the best way to get exposure and get to know people of different communities.

Richard Resnick – Retired from the New York City Transit, his passion turned to photography.  He has taken classes at Kingsborough Community College and also studies painting and sculpture.

Takeshi Yamada – He began painting at the age of 12.  His work has been on display at museums and art galleries including the Neville-Sargent Gallery, Chicago, IL; the Louisiana State Museum, New Orleans, LA; the Meguro Museum of Art, Tokyo, Japan; and the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, Laurel, MS.

Other featured artists with work on display are Anthony Marra, Catherine Marra and Harriet Piltch.
