 BERKELEY COLLEGE APPOINTS DONALD KIEFFER, PhD, AS
DEAN, SCHOOL OF LIBERAL ARTS

Berkeley College is pleased to announce the appointment of Donald Kieffer, PhD, as Dean, School of Liberal Arts. In this role Dr. Kieffer will oversee the implementation of the mission of the School of Liberal Arts. He will focus, in particular, on maintaining high standards in applicable skills such as reading, thinking, and writing and on deepening students’ appreciation of cultural differences. In addition, Dr. Kieffer has a strong interest in developing strategies to engage students in the classroom. 

“Dr. Kieffer brings a diverse set of professional experiences, including psychology professor, academic administrator, and corporate trainer, which will serve him well in his new role,” said Marianne P. Vakalis, EdD, Berkeley College Associate Provost, Faculty Affairs. 

Prior to joining Berkeley College, Dr. Kieffer spent nine years as the Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences at New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) in Warwick, RI. At NEIT he developed and taught a variety of applied psychology courses including Human Relations in the Workplace, The Psychology of Happiness, Developing Leadership in the Workplace, Marriage and Family, and The Psychology of Healthcare. Beyond his work as an NEIT Department Chair, Dr. Kieffer also has management experience serving as a director for several mental health clinics.

Dr. Kieffer holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Dakota and a BA in Psychology from Clark University in Worcester, MA.
