BERKELEY COLLEGE APPOINTS

RICARDO R. ORTEGÓN DEAN FOR SCHOOL

OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

 

As part of a new Strategic Plan, Vision for the Future, 2010-2015, which calls for the establishment of distinct schools within Berkeley College, President Dario A. Cortes, PhD, announces the appointment of Ricardo R. Ortegón, MBA, as Dean for the School of Continuing Education.

 

“Ricardo is dynamic and well qualified to join our team of dedicated and creative professionals who will make our Strategic Plan a success,” says Dr. Cortes.

 

“Dean Ortegón’s leadership and vision will help expand the resources of Berkeley College through the School of Continuing Education,” adds Berkeley College Provost Glen Zeitzer, PhD.

“By providing life-long learning opportunities for people of all ages we aim to enrich lives and enhance professional qualifications.”

 

Dean Ortegón has more than 14 years of experience working in higher education administration.  Most recently, he was Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Ramapo College of New Jersey. His prior positions include Associate Director of Enrollment Management and School Relations, and Director of Graduate Student Services at Texas A&M International University;  and Director of Enrollment Management and Recruitment for the Graduate School, and Director of Academic Advising and Adult Learning, at Montclair State University.  While at Montclair State he established a Center for Adult Learning dedicated to providing access to higher education and academic support for non-traditional and working adult students.

Dean Ortegón earned a BBA degree in General Business and an MBA degree in International Trade from Texas A&M International University.  He is an honorary member of Omicron Delta Kappa, National Collegiate Leadership Honor Society.

A leader in business education for 78 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of over 7,200 students, with more than 700 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has two New York campuses in Midtown Manhattan and White Plains, an Extension Center in Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, and four New Jersey campuses located in Woodland Park (formerly West Paterson), Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark. In addition, the College offers Berkeley College Online and its Corporate Learning Partnership program. All campuses are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
